VERNON – A Vernon collision led to one woman being ticketed for violating the state Move Over Law, according to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigation revealed a 2010 Subaru driven by 33-year-old Samirah Shehadeh of Rome, was heading northeast on Route 365 around 3:30 p.m. Thursday, when her vehicle failed to move over for a United States Postal Service delivery truck driven by 49-year-old Joseph Walpole of Oneida, according to a release.
This is when Shehadeh’s vehicle collided with the rear of the mail truck which was stopped at a mailbox on the east shoulder of the road in the vicinity of West 11th Street in Vernon.
The truck’s amber warning lights were activated, deputies confirm.
Shehadeh was transported by ambulance to Rome Memorial Hospital for evaluation and treatment of minor injuries, according to a release.
She was ticketed for failure to exercise due care upon approaching a special hazard vehicle.
