U.S. Postal Service will not close rural offices as part of revamp plan

WASHINGTON, March 11 (Reuters) – U.S. Postmaster General Louis DeJoy told lawmakers Thursday a forthcoming 10-year strategic plan will not call for closing any small or rural post offices but will propose adjustments in its network.

The U.S. Postal Service faces a $160 billion projected loss over the next decade and is looking to cut costs as it faces shrinking first-class mail volumes. “Congress must be willing and receptive to enabling us to make the necessary changes to put us on a sustainable path,” DeJoy told a U.S. House panel (Reporting by David Shepardson; editing by Jonathan Oatis)

How sad I will give example Benedict md post office open clerk paid to do nothing building heated cooled lights rent heat on eighty air on sixty pay cleaning service to clean add all this up they could get cluster box set up there is post office five miles from this office please put stop to this horrendous loss where us common sense

A clerk doing nothing is such a load of crap. A clerk will arrive before everyone else and begin working. This entails sorting all the packages to the various routes and po boxes. Then all the letters, magazines, and misc advertising must be sorted to the routes and po boxes. Then the clerk must place everything for the po boxes in each box. This post office has about fifty P.O. boxes no routes she might sell five stamps a day maybe three customers if they are lucky she plays on her cell phone whatever the numbers don’t lie the post office follows number it’s just a waste one hour of work a day for this this iffy biddy post office

When you lose access to postal products and services those customers go elsewhere. Not every post office will be profitable. It is ten times harder to get a customer back than it is to lose them to a competitor. That is why we still need the small post office. Remember, it’s the US Postal Service……NOT the US Postal Business!!

Ask employees to blow whistle on waste it’s every where why won’t any one listen why are we still letting post masters give out incentive money to friends it’s a buddy system that’s being abused just shut it down it’s friendship payments

Our previous postmaster would have an rca do maintenance work then give him incentive rewards and her smoking buddy would get one every year and they love to play with form fifties
