HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — U.S. Postal Service inspectors are conducting an investigation into the destruction of several mailboxes in Hendersonville. A reward of up to $1,500 is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the suspect(s).
In recent weeks, USPS says multiple residential mailboxes have been either damaged or destroyed by fireworks or explosive devices.
The investigation started in May after the Hendersonville Fire Department was alerted to an explosive device that was placed in a mailbox that failed to completely detonate. Since then, officials say several other incidents have unfolded.
The times of the explosions have ranged from overnight hours to broad daylight. Although no injuries have been reported, Hendersonville authorities say the explosions have been extremely dangerous.
