Stamp prices going up Sunday

January 18, 2017

SPRINGFIELD — The Postal Service will raise the price of its first-class “forever” postage stamps by 2 cents on Sunday, Jan. 22.

The price of a stamp will go from 47 cents to 49 cents.

The hike was approved by the Postal Regulatory Commission last year.

The price will not change for postcards, for mail to international destinations or for additional ounces for letters.

why did they even bother retracting it for in the first place then if it was just going to back to .49 not that much longer after! ugh i tell ya!

meaning the government that said it broke the rules, so frustrating

They received the full goal that the previous 2cent hike was supposed to replace. Congress forced them to uphold their end & drop it back down.

I have tons of Amish families & they were still trying to pay $49 for a roll & now I have to get them to pay more without orange stamp envelopes will right prices!! We won’t get the right orange envelopes until they are about to change the prices again!! SMH, it’s not like they didn’t know they were changing. Next time the survey comes out “No!, I don’t have equipment to do my job!” Been writing “Starting 1/22/2017 stamp prices will be .49 cents each” on stamp orders & it seems I’ve been selling out lately 😜😜

We never got the $0.47 envelopes in our area, I’ve been marking those down the whole time.
