Second postal service worker pleads guilty in Huntington marijuana mail case

A second United States Postal Service worker has pleaded guilty to a federal marijuana charge in which the drug was mailed to Huntington from California over several years.

Michael Mason Morton, 54, pleaded guilty Monday in federal court in Huntington to distribution of marijuana, a news release from U.S. Attorney Mike Stuart said.

In March 2018, agents watched as two packages containing marijuana mailed from California were loaded into Morton’s delivery truck and taken to a Dollar General store in the 800 block of Norway Avenue in Huntington. Morton gave the packages to James Waylon Molinaro, who was there in a separate vehicle. A West Virginia state trooper stopped Molinaro’s vehicle and recovered the package, which contained 16 pounds of marijuana, the release said.
