PORTLAND, Ore. – Postal workers gathered in Southeast Portland on Tuesday to demand action to protect the U.S. Postal Service during the coronavirus pandemic.
Organizers say at least 30 postal workers have died nationwide, with hundreds more battling the virus.
Post Master General Megan Brennan says there has been a 30% drop in mail volume, which is expected to go down even more through the summer.
She is asking for $22 billion from the federal government to save the service, which is expected to run out of money by September.
