Postal Service updates the status of post offices under emergency suspension

The Postal Service has just shared an update on the status of post offices that have been closed for emergency suspension.  The update responds to an order by the Postal Regulatory Commission, which has been encouraging the Postal Service to take care of  a long-standing problem of post offices that have been suspended for several years.

Suspensions are intended to be a temporary situation.  The Postal Service is supposed to fix the problem that led to the suspension or initiate and complete a discontinuance procedure before closing a post office permanently.  In many cases, however, the Postal Service has done neither, and hundreds of post offices have ended up in the limbo of suspension.
