A Johnson County man is facing a federal charge of misappropriation of postal funds.
According to court documents, a grand jury for the U.S. District Court in the Eastern District of Kentucky handed down an indictment Thursday against Donald Eugene Reffett on the charge, related to crimes he allegedly committed as an employee of the U.S. Postal Service.
According to the indictment, from April 2016 through August 2019, while he was employed as a sales, service/distribution associate with the U.S. Postal Service in Johnson County, Reffett did, “unlawfully loan, use, pledge, hypothecate, embezzle and convert to his own use money and property coming into his own hands and under his control in the execution of his employment with the Postal Service, in an amount exceeding $1,000.”
According to the indictment, if convicted, Reffett faces a potential maximum prison sentence of 10 years, a maximum fine of $250,000 and a maximum of three years supervised release.
