PORTLAND, Ore. – Residents living in a single North Portland zip code, 97217, say they have been having problems with their mail ever since the U.S. Postal Service began an experiment to streamline operations.
People packed Celebration Tabernacle Church to share their concerns with Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-Portland).
Residents described late mail, missing mail, and mail delivered to the wrong address.
The problems appear to be related to a pilot project by USPS called “consolidated casing,” meant to speed up mail carriers and decrease the number of routes.
Residents say the experiment is causing problems.
