Man attacked postal worker after fatal crash in January

EVERETT — Immediately after a postal truck hit and killed a woman crossing an intersection in January, a man attacked the driver and took his keys, Everett police said.

He ran away afterward, apparently before officers responded to the fatality around 5:45 p.m. at the intersection of Pacific and Colby Avenues.

There appeared to be some initial confusion about the assault, officer John DeRousse said. Police did not call it a robbery until recently.

The postal worker’s injuries were not serious enough to require hospitalization. The keys have not been recovered.

Now, police and U.S. Postal Service inspectors are asking people to help identify the man. They suspect is the same person seen in surveillance video taken just before the incident at the nearby 7-Eleven. He can be seen wearing a Lakers jersey, which he took off before the attack.

Tips can be directed to the Everett Police Department at 425-257-8450
