A mail truck burned to its chassis around 5 p.m. Friday in the Brady Lake area of Franklin Township on West Shore Drive just off Brady Lake Road. The Kent Fire Department responded.

A witness said a letter carrier from the Kent Post Office was nearing the end of her route and reported the truck began smoking and spontaneously erupted in flames. The witness said there was some mail still in the vehicle and that the carrier was uninjured.

So happy to be retire from the usps. I carry, proccess, distributed mail. Sad to say this.(Cut and dry) until someone dies from a llV fire, management is not going to replace them.

USPS vehicles have been catching on fire for years with no recall, report says

When is enough, ENOUGH!! Damn the people in charge of not recalling all these trucks!!! I’m sure they aren’t driving one!! And neither are their close loved ones.

We’re waiting on the Union to do right by the Carriers and take the USPS to court for NEGLIGENCE, and prosecute the Post Master General, but we’re expendible.

Unfortunately Carriers have died in overheated, non air conditioned LLVs, with USPS taking no action whatsoever to improve Carrier Safety. Friday a ‘safety’ gotcha team came into our office and ‘busted’ (harassed) Carriers over having windows down more than 3 inches! The high temperature on Friday was 84.
