Livingston Parish couple seeks more than $5 million after accident with USPS employee

BATON ROUGE – A Livingston Parish couple have filed suit over the alleged injuries the wife received in an accident with a postal employee.

Heather Boemia and Matthew Boemia, individually and on behalf of their minor daughter Maddison Boemia, filed a complaint on Nov. 17 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana against United States of America alleging that the government failed to properly train and supervise the USPS employee.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on July 31, 2014, Heather Boemia sustained injuries in an automobile collision caused by the negligence of a federal employee, Cynthia Aguilar. The suit states that plaintiffs’ counsel on their behalf submitted several formal claims to the United States Postal Service via Form 95 earlier this year, which were timely received by the USPS. The plaintiffs holds United States of America responsible because more than six months have passed since the plaintiffs submitted their claim without remedy.
