Hampton man who worked as mail carrier took bribes to deliver marijuana

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — A man who worked as a U.S. Postal Service mail carrier in Hampton will spend one year in prison for taking bribes to deliver packages of marijuana.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office said 61-year-old Darryl Harding received money from members of a marijuana conspiracy to deliver the packages, which were sent from Seattle to addresses in Hampton.

Harding would intercept the packages and take them to members of the conspiracy.

Prosecutors said Harding was paid as much as $300 for each package. He was sentenced for the crime earlier this month
