A Greenpoint postal worker pleaded not guilty at Brooklyn’s federal court on Tuesday to stealing packages for two years, including nearly $10,000 worth of “Pets Forever” stamp booklets.
Bagner Cardoso previously told the Office of Inspector General (OIG) of the United States Postal Service (USPS) that he had been stealing packages about every other day for the last two years, according to a criminal complaint.
He arrived at court in a pair of blue jeans, a gray T-shirt and his hair up in a bun to be arraigned before Magistrate Judge Peggy Kuo.
Employees at the Greenpoint Post Office at 66 Meserole Ave. allegedly saw Cardoso coming into work on his day off on Aug. 24 and taking two packages into the men’s locker room. One empty package was then found in a locker room garbage can and another was returned to its shelf, according to the complaint.
