Georgia State Patrol reports confirm that a 2-year-old died on Saturday morning after being run over by a mail truck.
According to the report, the mail carrier was delivering mail to homes on Sunny Hill Drive south of Loganville when she was flagged down by one of the residents after she had passed his home and was heading back. He was expecting a registered mail delivery and was asking about it.
Neither he nor the mail carrier allegedly saw his 2-year-old child follow him outside and past the front of the mail truck to speak to the driver.
He left by passing the rear of the truck and the driver pulled forward, striking the child who was in the roadway directly in front of the vehicle. Friends and family removed the child from the road but he was pronounced deceased at the scene by the coroner.
